More than three years in research and development, the patented Dyneema® Force Multiplier Technology is a product of DSM Dyneema’s program for radical innovation.

Well known for its development of Dyneema,® the world’s strongest fiber, DSM Dyneema and its engineers did the nearly inconceivable: They made it even stronger. The result is a truly revolutionary combination of strength, light weight and flexibility. Laminated sheets of Dyneema® Force Multiplier Technology ballistic material are so light and flexible that they are semi-transparent. In fact, they even float on water. This breakthrough was made possible by major innovations in two main areas:

1. Polymer Science

DSM Dyneema engineers created an all-new ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) polymer, breaking new ground in polymer science. This polymer was then applied to the company’s patented gel-spinning technology, in which it is spun to disentangle the polymeric chain and then drawn to superior ratios. This created a fiber with strength that is completely unique in the realm of science—one that made the world’s strongest fiber even stronger.

2. Unidirectional Matrix

Dyneema® Force Multiplier Technology didn’t just meet the standards required for ultra-high performance military applications, it exceeded them. And this makes the Alpha Elite Series superbly suited to the needs of law-enforcement officers. In the process of development, Point Blank engineers discovered several truly outstanding performance characteristics of Dyneema® Force Multiplier Technology in the Alpha Elite® (AXII and AXIIIA) models:

Literally thousands of these individual fiber filaments are aligned in a unique 0Ëš 90Ëš configuration to create the ballistic material itself. In effect, unidirectional fibers are placed at right angles to one another. Then they are laminated together to form sheets. Each sheet thus combines the unprecedented strength of the fiber with the flexible thinness of the matrix design.
